Focus on Healthy People 2020:

State Performance on Measures Reported in the NHQR

While Healthy People 2020 is the new initiative, the following NHQR measures are consistent with Healthy People 2010. Healthy People 2020 was launched in December 2010. Containing over 1200 objectives in 42 areas, Healthy People establishes goals to increase life expectancy, improve quality of life, and eliminate health disparities throughout the Nation. The goals provide Federal, State, and local government agencies and nongovernmental organizations with a framework for assessing progress in a comprehensive set of focus areas. Fifteen Healthy People 2020 measures were selected. Measures sorted by focus area are shown in the following table; for each measure, the Healthy People 2020 target rate is compared to the most recent State rate and the baseline State rate. (Measure with missing data does not appear in the table.)
